Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is capsular contracture?

Answer: Capsular contracture is the hardening of the tissue that forms around the implant. Under normal situations, there is tissue that forms around the implant. It is generally very thin and soft. This tissue helps hold the implants in place and separates the implants from the rest of the body. Sometimes this soft thin capsule becomes hard and thick like scar tissue which can essentially lead to hardening of the implants. This can be very mild to very severe.
