Question: What does liposuction do?

Answer: Liposuction removes subcutaneous fat between the skin and muscle. This is done with small incisions and the use of a narrow cannula usually under general anesthesia. Fluid is placed in the fat first, this helps minimize blood loss, and then the fat is removed. It is the most common cosmetic procedure performed in the United States.
