Deep furrows on the forehead, frown lines over the eyes, drooping eyebrows and a hood-like sag over the eyes are all conditions that can make you look older than you are—or feel. Whether these conditions are caused by age or heredity, a forehead lift (or browlift) can give you a more youthful, animated and alert appearance.
Forehead lifts are usually performed under local anesthesia, supplemented by a mild sedative to keep you awake, yet relaxed. Your doctor will make an incision across the top of the head, just above the hairline. Excess skin and portions of the muscle is then removed through the incision, which is then closed with clips or sutures. Forehead and browlifts may be performed alone, or along with other procedures such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.
Most patients are up on their feet in a couple of days, and back to work within two weeks. Strenuous exertion, which increases your blood pressure, should be avoided for about a month, along with prolonged exposure to heat or the sun.
