Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery (or blepharoplasty) is the preferred treatment for removing bags under the eyes or drooping eyelids, conditions that can add years to your appearance, and even impair your vision. Eyelid surgery can make you look - and feel - years younger.

Eyelid surgery may be performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Dr. Weeks will make tiny incisions along the natural lines of your eyelids, through which excess fat, skin and muscle is removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures, which will leave scars that are practically invisible. Often the procedure on the lower lid can be made inside the lower lid so that no external scar is visible.
Most patients are back to their normal routines within a few days, although complete recovery may take several weeks. Swelling and bruising, and minimal discomfort are part of the recovery process, and usually can be alleviated with cold compresses and appropriate medication.
