FaceLift and S-Lift Surgery

El Paso, Texas

Most facelifts are done under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting. Depending on the area to be treated, facelifts usually involve incisions made along the hairline, which extend around the ears to the lower scalp. The skin is lifted away from the fat and muscle underneath, and excess fat is removed. The deeper layers are then tightened and the skin is carefully sutured to create a nearly invisible scar.

Laser resurfacing procedures can often be performed at the same time as a facelift or other cosmetic procedures.

Depending on the extent of the work performed, recovery time can range from a few weeks to several months. Swelling and minor discomfort lasts a few days, and stitches are usually removed within a week. Most patients are back to work in 10 to 14 days, and may resume their normal activities in about three weeks.

S-lift (short scar facelift) or mini-facelift is well suited for middle-aged and younger patients to provide tightening of sagging muscles of the cheeks, chin and neck. S-lift can be performed in conjunction with tumescent local anesthesia and may be combined with liposuction of the face and/or neck. This procedure entails a more iminimal incision that the traditional facelift with faster recovery and can be performed in the office on most patients.
